    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    The Governor's Technology Office is seeking to fill a Chief IT Manager located in Carson City. This position will serve as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Security section. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the state's information security strategy, policies, and programs. The CISO drives the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, risk management practices, incident response coordination, and security governance across executive branch agencies. The CISO works in close partnership with state leadership, agency directors, and external partners to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Nevada's digital infrastructure and public data. The CISO provides expert input into security investments and strategic IT planning.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and eight years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, or information security. Five years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR one year of experience as an IT Manager III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes CISSP or CISM certification must be obtained within 12 months of appointment and maintained as a condition of continued employment. Special Requirements This position is subject to call-out or call-back. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position has a 25% travel requirement. This position is subject to working Nights/Holidays/Weekends.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
