    The Position

    Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Training Officer 1 located in Las Vegas. The Training Officer 1 will be assign to the Summit View Youth Center (SVYC), a 48-bed Maximum Security facility for male youth ages 14 to 18. Incumbent will manage and coordinate delivery of trainings for SVYC staff. This includes supervising and conducting training sessions; prepare course descriptions, develop curriculum, and deliver trainings. The incumbent will serve as liaison to the Division of Human Resources on training needs and requirements and will ensure facility training compliance with relevant federal and state regulations, and DCFS and SVYC training policies.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
