Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to manage, grow, and be a high impact economic development project manager -as well as to coordinate with other Department staff on the attraction, retention, expansion, and redevelopment of existing corporate headquarters, advanced technology enterprises, and research and development facilities.
A critical component to this role will have a shared responsibility in Grand Prairie’s industrial, manufacturing, and supply chain vertical.
This is accomplished by performing certain site visits with businesses, prospects, brokers, and developers, outreach to companies via phone, email, text and other in-person events; addressing prospect concerns relating to City services and other outside business services including workforce development and talent pipeline growth; helping manage and nurture Grand Prairie’s network of industrial brokers, industrial property owners, industrial developers and consultants that work in the advanced manufacturing vertical.
Other duties include responding to requests for information; assisting the Director with structuring business attraction/expansion/redevelopment incentives, including creative TIF financing, Chapter 380 incentive agreement structuring; exploring ways to foster major employer renovation and expansion and interfacing with other City departments and citizens.

Prior strong experience in real estate, finance, or economic development is required.Essential Job Functions- Performs selected retention visits and meetings (some outside the City) by contacting company contacts to retain one-on-one interface with the City; scheduling meetings; driving to businesses; identifying expansion, relocation and redevelopment prospects; serving as a liaison between businesses and the City departments.
- Facilitating programs by attending meetings; fostering any introductions and deals; implementing bi-monthly networking breakfast; helping implement tours for brokers; and producing annual meetings for a Grand Prairie Economic Development Foundation.
- Maintains an extensive confidential business retention database by documenting calls, visits, and correspondences with companies; documenting lease renewals to assist businesses with expansion or relocation possibilities; and locating suitable alternative facilities in Grand Prairie.
- Writing correspondence(s); communicating by phone; and handling phone complaints from businesses and citizens with prompt follow up.
- Identifies concerns and issues by working with corresponding City departments and outside services to amicably resolve problems.
- May involve meeting with other City Departments to consider design review, interior design considerations and layouts (particularly to foster expansion and renovation), including but not limited to work with departmental personnel, vendors, contractors, architects, or others to consider design options, materials, furniture, and decorations to aesthetically align design with buildings across the city (especially as it relates to the far north SH 360, the IH-30/Belt Line Road corridor, President George Bush Turnpike corridor and far south SH 360) as well as redevelopment of existing projects and developments.

- Regular and dependable attendance is required.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred. Preference is a degree and/or coursework in geography, political science, commercial and/or real estate related programs.
- Experience: Over three years up to including five years experience in real estate, finance, or economic development is required . History or experience working with CRM software helpful.
