Description
The City of Irvine seeks motivated individuals with demonstrated customer service skills to provide facility operations support, assist with events at the Irvine Civic Center and Civic Center West, and support citywide special events.
The following vacancies exist:- Extended Part-time vacancy: 30-32 hours per week
The ideal candidate has t wo years of college-level work and two years of relevant experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The Community & Library Services Department provides exceptional service, innovative programs, and diverse cultural experiences in vibrant and sustainable spaces. The department consists of the following award-winning programs and services: Human Services; Community Parks, Outreach and Open Space; Athletics, Aquatics, Arts, Great Park Operations, and Attractions; Reservation, Program Services; Irvine Animal Care Center; Administrative Services; and the new Irvine Public Library System.

I nterview: After a thorough review of applications, those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their application will be invited to an interview.
Background Check : A thorough background investigation will be conducted prior to appointment.
Medical Examination : A medical examination will be conducted, including a drug/alcohol screening and proof of a negative TB test to ensure the ability to perform assigned duties. Any applicant who tests positive or tampers with evidence shall be disqualified from consideration.
Future Vacancies: This recruitment may be used to fill future positions in a similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
Part-time employees are employed "at will" and their services can be discontinued without cause.
Certain City budgets may not include funding for mandated CalPERS employer contributions. A qualified candidate who is a current member of CalPERS may be restricted from temporary/part-time employment.

Show moreThe City of Irvine was incorporated on December 28, 1971, under the general laws of the State of California. We operate under a charter law form of government which was adopted in 1975, meaning we have a City Council-City Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to function as the chief administrator of the City. City Council sets the policy directions for the City, and the City Manager is charged with implementing those directions. Additionally, the City Manager keeps the Council informed of City operations, prepares the annual budget, oversees special programs, and coordinates the various department activities.
Irvine is one of the nation's largest planned urban communities and encompasses over 66 square miles and has a current population of more than 310,000. We contract for fire and medical services with the County of Orange, and have three independent districts: library, educational and utility services.
Other government services include: animal control; building and safety regulation and inspection; general administrative services; planning and zoning; police; public facility/capital improvement construction; recreation and cultural programs; refuse collection and recycling; street lighting; street maintenance; landscape maintenance and transportation management.
