The Nevada Division of Industrial Relations (DIR) is seeking a
dynamic, strategic, and proven leader to serve as Deputy Division
Administrator overseeing the state's Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA). This role offers the opportunity
to lead a high-impact program that directly influences worker
safety and employer compliance statewide.

Under the direction of the Division Administrator, the Deputy Division
Administrator, Nevada OSHA (also called the Chief Administrative Officer), is
charged with administration of statutory programs and policies relevant to the
regulation of workplace safety and manages all facets of the occupational safety
and health program for the State of Nevada Division oflndustrial Relations.
The position is responsible for effectively managing internal and external
relationships with Nevada private and public employers and employees, within
DIR, and with Federal OSHA. The position also manages the Nevada
component of the annual Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII)
and the annual Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) for the federal
Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Responsibilities include management of a
staff of up to 84 employees located in Las Vegas and Reno.
IITIONS: Knowledge of State and Federal OSHA standards and regulations, with enforcement or consultation experience. Strong administrative skills in safety engineering, safety management, or industrial hygiene. Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate safety programs. Excellent communication, organizational, and human relations skills. Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders. Understanding of legislative and regulatory processes. Experience managing high-performing teams and aligning goals with organizational strategy. Commitment to organizational values and cultural leadership. Professional safety and health designations are highly desirable. Bachelor or Master's degree in health, science, safety, or public administration, or enrollment in such programs is highly desirable. " ITIES OMETENIES: Under the direction of the Division Administrator and Deputy Division Administrator, this position is responsible for managing the following functions: Manage statewide OSHA program functions to enforce safety and health standards. Collaborate with Federal OSHA representatives to enhance occupational safety in Nevada. Partner with the Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) to help businesses reduce workplace hazards. Oversee the OSHA Whistleblower program. Manage the Nevada component of the Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys on workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. Coordinate licensing for asbestos abatement and photovoltaic installers. Collaborate with employers, trade groups, and unions. Use data to target enforcement in high-risk industries. Submit contested cases to the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Review Board. Assist in budget preparation and monitoring. Oversee staff recruitment, training, and development. Analyze legislation, regulations, and policy implementation. Testify before Legislative committees and make presentations. Participate in strategic planning and provide recommendations. Foster a positive staff culture with open communication. S#: Approximately up to $124,068 plus benefits. LOCATION: Las Vegas
