  • Job Description

    Introduction

    Provides services to the public by responding to a wide variety of human services and customer service issues, including coordination of programs, difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries, requests for services and complaints.

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $29.26/hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A high school diploma and/or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Three years' customer service in a public, front line or social service agency.
    • Six months of Lead or Supervisory experience.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.


    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:

    • Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
    • Listens and communicates effectively, both orally and in writing; explains/interprets ordinances, eligibility requirements, policies and procedures and types/performs data entry at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
    • Handles administrative functions such as the accounting work for the center, purchasing of office supplies, tracking inventory and complex calendar scheduling.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, brokerage agencies, referral sources, community social services programs and the general public.
    • Performs front desk coordination, direction, organization and management; ability to successfully utilize point of sales and process registration requests.
    • Processes requests for facility booking; private rentals, commercial rentals, City of Scottsdale usage, yearly groups and senior programs including payment processing and contract administration.
    • Coordinates the schedule of activities, classes, and programs.


    Work Environment/Physical Demands

    • Work is performed in a city office environment.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a personal computer, related software, copy and facsimile machines and telephone that require continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement.
    • Lift and carry food boxes and donated items and office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
    • Travel to/from meetings and various locations as required.
