Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Community Services Division located at Kansas City North Community Center, 3930 NE Antioch Rd
Salary Range: $18.61-29.39/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting surveys and collecting information to be used in administrative, fiscal, budgetary and fiscal analyses.
- Compiles and calculates statistical data in the preparation and administration of the annual budget, maintenance of expenditure records, handling of purchasing requisitions, and/or initiation of insurance claims.
- Prepares drafts of operating orders, instructions studies and special reports.
- Maintains files and records of a highly confidential nature.
- Makes interpretations and recommendations for improvement of administrative planning, organization and operation.
- Assists in the installation of new programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation; assists in the preparation of manuals.
- Assists in the preparation of various public and administrative reports.
- Plans, assigns, leads and participates in the operation of a specialized large scale clerical program.
- Performs difficult and complex clerical duties associated with payroll administration, water and sewer charges, collections and issuance of water permits, tax assessments, returns and related records, etc.
- Maintains a large variety of complex clerical records, including personnel records, departmental budget data, departmental rules and procedural statements.
- Understands the principles and practices of public administration, municipal finance, budgeting and accounting.
- Researches techniques, methods and procedures.
- Performs modern office management principles, practices and equipment.
- Carries out general and special assignments; collect, analyze and interpret data.
- Submits oral and written reports on research findings.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, municipal officials and the general public.
- Performs addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers.
- Serves as front desk attendant.
- Performs data entry, books rentals, and enters memberships .
- Performs cash handling.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 3 years of increasingly responsible secretarial and/or clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
