    Overview

The Natural Resources Coordinator is a full-time position with the Larimer County CSU Extension Office in Fort Collins, CO. As part of a 15 member team, the Coordinator contributes to community education in areas ranging from agriculture to health & well-being to 4-H/positive youth development. The Extension Office is a collaborative environment composed of both Larimer County and CSU staff, who implement both county-specific and CSU-led programs.

This position is responsible for taking on existing programming responsibilities such as conducting small acreage site visits to recommend best management practices and coordinating the Native Plant Master program. The ideal candidate will also lead and/or contribute to implementation of specific strategies within Larimer County’s Water Master Plan, including strategies related to agricultural water conservation and public education. This will involve significant collaboration with other county departments and external stakeholders.

In this role you will be expected to be resourceful in providing answers to a wide variety of natural resource questions from private landowners ranging from weed and grazing management to hobby livestock to pest management.

A typical schedule would run from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. This position can be done as a remote/in-person hybrid, although an in-person presence in the Larimer County Extension Office is expected at least two days per week.

    Responsibilities

    What you'll be doing:
    • Promoting, scheduling, and conducting small acreage site visits (~1-65 acres) on diverse array of private land in Larimer County
    • Make verbal and written recommendations for best practices on small acreages that will result in conservation or enhancement of natural resources
    • Collaborating with administrative staff and others to promote, schedule, and coordinate a volunteer-led, multi-week Native Plant Master program according to CSU program standards
    • Leading and/or supporting implementation of specific strategies within Larimer County’s Water Master Plan, including strategies related to agricultural water conservation and public education
    • Responding to questions from private landowners about a wide variety of natural resources issues with research-based, unbiased information in a timely manner
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and partners both verbally and in writing
    • Working independently to prioritize needs related to natural resources that are appropriate for Extension interventions (e.g. consultations, classes, site visits, fact sheets, webpages) based on knowledge of the community and relationships with other natural resource organizations serving Larimer County
    • Contributing to the Extension team by attending staff meetings, being collaborative, evaluating success, reporting, and conducting other basic functions expected of program staff in the office
