This position will be located at
111 Fairgrounds Road, Rolla, MO, 65401. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional field work and overnight travel.
As the Geologic Investigations Unit Supervisor, you will work in a dynamic atmosphere dedicated to managing activities related to metallic and critical mineral investigations and preservation of geologic data, including the supervision of team members who perform a variety of geologic and geochemical mapping, geochemical and geophysical analyses, scanning, and documentation of data and information. You will oversee budgets from numerous funding sources and ensure quality deliverables for a variety of geoscience projects. You will support the core values of the Geological Survey Program, which include Technical Competency, Service, Professionalism, Ingenuity, and Cooperation and the mission and values of the Division and Department.
- Develop strategic plans for the Geologic Investigations Unit.
- Lead a dynamic team of geologists and technical team members to accomplish the goals of the unit.
- Provide quality control and quality assurance for fiscal components and deliverables for all funding sources including grants.
- Supervise and motivate others, manage employee performance through coaching, team building, and delegation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including: United States Geological Survey, Division of Environmental Quality programs, academic and industry partners, and others.
- Licensed as a Registered Geologist in the State of Missouri
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills: - Geotechnical Science : Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the investigation and evaluation of subsurface soil and geologic conditions and properties for the purposes of geohydrologic evaluations.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: - Master’s degree in geology or closely related field and a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credit in geology and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
(Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
- Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
