    This position will be filled at a salary no higher than the posted maximum salary.

    Job Location: Central Office, 830 MoDOT Drive, Jefferson City, MO

    The administrative intern (safety) provides entry-level professional support for safety programs and processes. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

    What you’ll do:

      • Coordinates the department's safety and occupational health programs.
      • Identifies and assesses risks, exposures, and hazards through development and management of control strategies for department operations.
      • Measures, evaluates, audits, and continually improves the effectiveness of hazard controls and control programs.
      • Conducts safety training, performs ergonomic assessments, and organizes industrial hygiene testing; may coordinate workplace security programs, including training.
      • Investigates workplace incidents involving department employees to determine cause and make preventative recommendations; may assess and review workplace locations for security risks.


    All you need for success:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
    • 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
    • Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.


    Special Working Conditions:

    • Job requires frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel.
    • Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
    • Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
