    Role

    Yavapai County is seeking a Registrar Transition Coordinator to join the team at the Juvenile Justice Center School in Prescott. This role is responsible for a variety of essential record-keeping functions, including preparing monthly reports, managing requests, and creating and maintaining permanent student record files.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Completes intake information and creates data file for each student.
    • Acts as a liaison between student’s school and detention school; obtains student academic records and Individual Education Plan (IEP) if necessary.
    • Records students daily attendance and completes monthly attendance report.
    • Develops support plan with probation officer and probationer, defining life/job/education goals, and identifying steps to meet these goals.
    • Networks with potential schools and agencies for which students will be involved upon release.
    • Assists students throughout transition process: expands and develops options/opportunities for students while detained and upon release for high school, post-high school, career and extra-curricular activities.
    • Gathers data and prepares reports describing goals, plans and correspondence on each detainee as required by the detention school, courts, probation officers or other pertinent stakeholders.
    • Communicates with family and/or home school about information that will assist the student in successfully transitioning back into the community.
    • Develops appropriate instruction with activities and guest speakers to include career readiness, job search skills, mastering of soft skills, and access to resources that will create a self-directed path to employment or post-secondary education.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:
    A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience working with youth.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
    Must possess fingerprint clearance card.

    Other Skills

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:
    • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    • Clerical office practices and procedures.
    • Research techniques and report writing.
    • Current Microsoft Office software.
    • Filing and recordkeeping.

    Skill in:
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.

    Ability to:
    • Work within a secure care setting and display willingness to adapt to working with students with varying degrees of educational functioning abilities.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
    • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
