    The Position

    Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Custodial Worker 1 (CW1) position at the Nevada National Guard's Carson City location provides general cleaning services across a variety of facility areas for the Office of the Military, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and orderly environment for all users. Primary responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing offices, restrooms, showers, classrooms, and other assigned spaces in accordance with established schedules and procedures. Duties range from dusting, mopping, and polishing floors to vacuuming carpets, washing windows and fixtures, and emptying waste receptacles. The position also requires operating powered cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and power washers, while safely handling cleaning agents and completing required training. Administrative tasks include maintaining logs, completing forms, and preparing routine reports. Additional related duties may be assigned under general supervision.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria This position requires a valid Real ID at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
