The internship in Information Technology will focus on assisting with helpdesk inquiries and requests. This includes providing technical support, training, and assistance to employees, explaining IT issues, and implementing solutions according to IT Department standards and procedures.
SUMMARY: Under close supervision, provides short-term administrative, routine, technical and para-professional support for a City department, division, function and/or special project. Assists in performing research and conducting special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: -- Management Intern is a training level classification designated for an individual who is currently enrolled in has recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program and assists with a wide variety of routine, technical and para-professional level studies, research projects and tasks. Graduate level Management Interns have a greater degree of independence and discretion, and greater complexity of duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with helpdesk inquiries and support requests.
- Provide technical support to employees.
- Offer training and assistance on IT-related topics.
- Explain technical issues in an understandable way.
- Implement solutions based on IT Departmental standards and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal IT protocols while resolving issues.
- Performs administrative and clerical duties.
- May assist with the coordination of special events.
- Interacts with members of the community, other City staff, elected officials, and businesses.
Minimum QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Guidelines: Possession of a High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be currently enrolled as a student in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university or have graduated. Appointments to this classification are temporary, assigned variable work hours for a limited duration. Incumbents are limited to work under 1,000 hours per fiscal year. Transcripts or degree must be submitted with job application.
Preferred Education, Training and Experience: - Graduated with or pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- Possession of Information Technology related certifications.
- Work experience in Information Technology.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A valid California Driver’s License may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a standard office environment, with occasional work required outdoors and/or at remote locations throughout the City.
