    The Position

    Business Process Analysts apply an in-depth knowledge of the agency's program areas to define and implement a solution to a given problem that requires an individually tailored response for end-user requirements.

    Under limited supervision, incumbents perform the full range of journey level duties described in the series concept. Incumbents may serve as a leadworker as assigned.

    The Nevada State Controller's Office is recruiting for a Business Process Analyst 2 in Carson City. Under general direction, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the management of the State Financial System (Advantage), DAWN, and Vista including security and troubleshooting; reporting and resolving nightly cycle problems; making recommendations for improvement; designing and maintaining user security profiles as well as security for documents and tables. The incumbent will also develop service requests for system fixes and enhancements including gathering requirements and working with end users and technical staff; perform various system processes such as closing monthly accounting periods, system rollovers, opening and closing fiscal years, 1099 testing, processing, and file production, tort claim processing, depreciation and fixed asset processes, purge processes, reversing JV processes, and chart of account maintenance. This position will also serve as backup to the Financial Help Desk. The incumbent may perform other related duties as required to meet ongoing needs.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, management information systems, or other disciplines related to the assignment and two years of professional experience in a related program area analyzing and interpreting program laws, regulations, policies and procedures, which included one year of experience applying recognized data processing concepts to business process planning and analyses; OR one year of experience as a Business Process Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. Additional Position Criteria Please describe your experience with financial systems and financial reporting systems such as Advantage, DAWN, and Vista and where it was obtained. Please describe your experience documenting business processes, recommending improvements to those processes, and where this was obtained. Please describe your experience managing projects and where it was obtained. Please describe your experience conducting system integration testing and/or user acceptance testing and where it was obtained. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level.
