    The Position

    Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is recruiting for a Training Officer I in Las Vegas, NV. The position is responsible for conducting, coordinating, and maintaining the Agency's training and educational programs to employees in accordance with: Agency, Division, and State mandates, Joint Commission Standards, CMS, OSHA, American Heart Association, needs assessments, agency priorities, and performance improvement findings. They will provide training for trainers and organization and management for a variety of in-house training courses. The Training Officer I will develop and maintain written plans that detail the agency's training and education initiatives as well as processes. The position will also coordinate with the College of Southern Nevada to ensure the curriculum for Mental Health Technicians and Forensic Specialists is available and up to date. The incumbent will maintain and track education records for certification. The incumbent will participate in Performance Improvement activities as assigned. This is a full-time position with a tentative work schedule of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday off.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
