Job Description:Purpose:Under limited supervision, this position ensures operational readiness for utility pipeline field operation groups and support operations through scheduling in a timely manner.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Performs required field investigations duties: performs test-shutout, identifies/notifies impacted customers, reviews traffic control needs, inspects area for obstacles/obstructions, and ensures utilities have been properly marked.
- Coordinates with operation and maintenance supervisors to ensure timely planning of infrastructure improvement and heavy maintenance project needs by work crews.
- Ensures utility notification groups are contacted when excavation greater than 18 inches will occur 1-call.
- Tracks and requests needed permits to ensure proper agencies are notified (ROW/Permits, DAPC, TxDOT).
- Ensures all preparation work and notifications are complete 24 to 48 hours prior to work beginning.
- Coordinates with traffic control contractor to ensure there is a safe work zone for workers.
- Closes out work orders - provides Quality Assurance review of repair work order and makes updates to work order databases.
- Generates reports as needed.
- Handles other projects as assigned.
- Subject to various work shifts, on-call, and call back hours.

Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years of experience in general construction maintenance, including four (4) years of experience in water and wastewater underground utility construction maintenance
Licenses and Certifications Required:- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Positions in water distribution require a Class C Water Distribution License from TCEQ. A Surface Water Class C License or higher may substitute for the Class C Water Distribution License.
- Positions in wastewater collection require a Class II Wastewater Collection License from TCEQ
- For specified work groups, Respiratory Protection and Confined Space Entry training must be completed
Preferred Qualifications:- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and managing the delivery of construction and/or utility projects to support organizational goals
- Experience coordinating, collaborating, and working effectively with other departments or units within an organization.
- Experience ensuring/enforcing safety policies and procedures on construction and/or utility work sites.
- Experience using mobile devices out in the field such as laptops and tablets.
- Experience interpreting and applying information found in technical documents such as - build and plan sheets.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and GIS programs.
Notes to Candidate:Position Overview: The Pipeline Technician Coordinator position is responsible for the following:
- Field investigations and customer notifications: Conducting "test-shutouts," notifying affected customers, and inspecting for obstructions are core tasks of a Field or Utility Coordinator.

- Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- 4th shift
- Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Work EnvironmentThis position is in a heavy industrial setting and requires performing all duties associated with operating heavy equipment outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat, cold and rain. This position will include cross training in operations of various equipment. Position will require adaptability and willingness to change or modify workload on demand and multitask. Position requires working in environments which may have hazardous situations.
