    Job Summary

    Salary:

    Accountant I: $25.21 - $32.15

    Accountant II: $26.63 - $33.95

    Accountant III: $28.28- $36.065

    Performs professional accounting work, which may include overseeing lower-level accounting personnel in the performance of specialized accounting functions. Primary duties include organizing, maintaining, reviewing, recording, and interpreting financial records; preparing financial statements and reports; and participating in the design and revision of manual and automated accounting systems. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed through reports, periodic internal and external audits, conferences, and results obtained.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Accountant I:

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and six (6) months of professional accounting experience or six (6) months work related experience with Microsoft Office products or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Governmental accounting experience preferred. CPA desired. Must pass background check which includes polygraph.

    Accountant II:

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and one (1) year of professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Governmental accounting experience preferred. CPA desired. Must pass background check which includes polygraph.

    Accountant III:

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and two (2) years of professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Governmental accounting experience preferred. CPA desired. Must pass background check which includes polygraph.

    Additional Qualifications for Promotion:

    Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. Last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
