    Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

    Missouri School for the Deaf

    Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    2022-2023 School Year

    SALARY

    • LPN - $36,120 annually (School-term position - based on working 209 days)


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Prepares and administers prescription medications to students according to directions from physicians and approval of the Health Center’s Registered Nurse.
    • Gives First Aid and PRN medication as appropriate and necessary according to the nursing process and standing orders from school physician.
    • Maintains personal work schedules, doctor visits for students or emergency visits as approved by supervisor.
    • Assists physicians with examinations and records appropriate documentation.
    • Provides appropriate instruction to students regarding health care.
    • Answer the Health Center’s switchboard and maintain harmonious relationships with students, parents and campus staff.
    • Documents all medicines, treatments and education provided on students' individual charts and other appropriate records.
    • Observes students and reviews records as necessary and reports changes in condition or behavior.
    • Notifies supervisor and/or physician of appropriate concerns including emergencies.
    • Admits students to the Health Center with appropriate documentation.
    • P erforms other duties as assigned.


    EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED

    Licensed Practical Nurse :

    • One year of professionally supervised experience in a health care setting.
    • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing with an application for nursing boards or possession of current license to practice as a Practical Nurse in Missouri.
    • Maintain LPN license
    • M ust meet the American Sign Language competency level of Survival Plus.
