    Job Summary:

    The Gate Operations Coordinator is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various gate systems to enhance the security and efficiency of SAWS properties. This position will be responsible for managing and inspecting activities performed by contractors within SAWS facilities. Responsible for ensuring contractor’s compliance with approved plans, specifications, construction standards, and federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations. The Gate Operator Coordinator represents SAWS in a decision-making capacity and payment authorizing capacity when dealing with customers, contractors, consultants, developers, governmental and regulatory agencies.

    ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
    • Oversees and instructs employees in proper work methods and safety procedures, advises, guides, coaches and provides input on employee’s performance.
    • Installs and maintains gate operators, gates, fences and limited access control systems, and other related equipment.
    • Oversees troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, adjustments, and repairs on gate operator systems to identify and resolve issues.
    • Repairs or replaces faulty components, including circuit boards, motors, sensors, and wiring.
    • Oversees, inspects, and accepts contractor activities and materials for compliance with contracts, regulatory and safety compliance, specifications, construction standards, permits, and quality control plans.
    • Resolves and addresses issues at facilities to include managing, inspecting, and accepting contractor repairs and emergency calls.
    • Programs and configures gate operator systems to ensure proper functionality.
    • Performs regular maintenance checks to ensure all gates and control systems are functioning optimally, with adjustments and recalibrations performed as needed.
    • Collaborates with clients to understand their specific requirements and provide effective solutions.
    • Reviews, plans, and attends pre-bid, pre-construction, and project status meetings with governmental agencies, contractors, and consultants affiliated with facilities.
    • Provides technical assistance to gate/fence system designers, and system contractors, architects, and engineers. Creates scopes of work for projects, aides in the bid process, and works closely with the internal department to ensure that all work is completed.
    • Provides timely and accurate documentation of service and repairs performed to include accurate service records, detailing work performed, parts replaced, and any other relevant information.
    • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
    • Follows safety protocols and adheres to industry standards and regulations.
    • Stays up to date with advancements in gate operator technology and industry trends.


    DECISION MAKING

    • This position works under limited supervision.


    MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Five years’ experience working as a Gate Operator Technician or in a similar role.
    • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.


    PREFERRED REQUIREMENT:

    • Certified Gate Automation Technician.


    JOB DIMENSIONS
    • Strong knowledge of gate operator systems, access control systems, and related equipment.
    • Skill in troubleshooting and diagnosing gate operator system issues.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Skill in utilizing computers and proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and project management software, and work order system.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work evenings or weekends, depending on project requirement.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing and provide good customer service.
    • Ability to operate and maintain various types of equipment, machinery and tools to ensure safe working conditions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, internal and external customers, contractor representatives, and governmental agencies.


    PHYSICALDEMANDSANDWORKINGCONDITIONS

    Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and working in cramped and strained positions for periods of time to perform job scope.

    Working conditions are primarily outside, exposed to wet, humid, or extreme weather conditions; slippery, uneven surfaces; excessive noise; heavy traffic; and animals, snakes and poisonous insects and poisonous plants. Operates company vehicle on a daily basis.

    May be required to work hours other than regular daytime schedule such as nights, weekends, holidays, on-call or rotating shifts.
