    OVERVIEW

    An Exceptional Opportunity to Empower Lives and Communities

    Kitsap County is seeking an experienced human services professional to serve as a WA Cares Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator, a newly created role supporting Washington State's innovative long-term care program. This is your opportunity to assist working Washingtonians in using their long-term trust benefit while shaping the future of care coordination in our community.

    In this role, you'll guide individuals and families through complex systems, connect them with vital resources, and ensure they receive the support they need to thrive. You'll collaborate with care teams, community partners, and diverse populations to deliver person-centered assistance that truly matters.
    As the WA Cares Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator, you will:
    • Deliver eligibility and benefit navigation services for beneficiaries of the WA Cares Fund-assessing care needs, determining eligibility, and recommending service options.
    • Conduct in-depth screenings and assessments to identify formal and informal supports and connect individuals to appropriate programs and services.
    • Assist individuals in completing WA Cares applications for benefits, services, and referrals, both in person and via phone.
    • Provide specialized information and referrals, leveraging deep knowledge of local, regional, and state programs, including home care, aging services, and medical or behavioral support.
    • Maintain up-to-date resource directories of local agencies and service providers to support timely and accurate referrals.
    • Facilitate outreach and education events to raise awareness about the WA Cares Fund and other community services; represent the division at events, fairs, and forums.
    • Build and maintain effective community partnerships with interdisciplinary teams and providers to enhance access and coordination of services.
    • Stay current on evolving policies and program guidelines, conducting research and ensuring compliance with state and county standards.


    What you bring:
    • Valid Washington State Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
    • Bachelor's degree in the social, behavioral, or health sciences with two years of paid, on-the-job social service experience, or
    • Bachelor's degree in any other field and four years of paid, on-the-job social service experience.
    Preferred Education, Experience or Other Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in the social, behavioral, or health sciences and one year of paid, on-the-job social service experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of long-term care, disability support services, and caregiving networks.
    • Experience in eligibility screening, needs assessment, care planning, and service coordination.

    Retirement:
    Employees are covered under the PERS retirement plan provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems and Social Security.

    Deferred Compensation (IRS Plan 457b): tax-deferred savings program

    Holidays
    11 paid holidays and 2 additional floating holiday per year. One additional floating holiday after 10 years of service.

    Vacation Leave
    New employees are credited with 48 hours of annual leave upon hire and will be begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 360 hours from one calendar year to the next. Annual leave accrual will increase upon tenure, as follows:

    Upon completion of 2 years: 15 days per year (10.00 hours per month)
    Upon completion of 5 years: 20 days per year (13.33 hours per month)
    Upon completion of 10 years: 25 days per year (16.67 hours per month)

    Sick Leave
    All new hires will be credited with 48 hours of sick leave upon hire and will begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 1200 hours from one calendar year to the next.

    ***Part-time employees benefit contributions and leave accruals will be prorated***
