Minimum Salary: $56,760 (commensurate with experience and education)
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the candidate selected is eligible for a years-of-service pay differential, it will be added to the total compensation. A pay differential does not raise the base pay.
Job Location: This position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Why is the work you do in this position important to Missouri? The person in this position is responsible for creating and supporting communications content between the Department of Commerce and Insurance and the multiple audiences we serve - telling the story of who we are, what we do, and how we protect the needs of the Missouri consumers and ensure a level playing field for the audiences we regulate.
What will you do in this position? - Write and edit content for multiple delivery platforms, including web, social media, and print
- R esearch and gather information, verify for accuracy
- Capable of turning complex industry language into consumer-friendly content
- Assist with enhancing accessibility and usability in all communications materials
- Be familiar with AP style and work within established brand guidelines
What are the qualifications for the position? - Prior experience in a public relations or public information role
- Exceptional written and verbal communications
- Ability to work well as part of a team of communications professionals
- Capable of working independently to complete projects, including gathering information, scheduling interviews, and verifying accuracy
- Organized and detail-oriented work ethic
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Willingness to learn new skills
Areas of qualifying experience:
- Knowledge through a bachelor’s degree or work experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field . Must demonstrate knowledge of writing and editing experience by providing samples of work completed.
Preferred Qualifications: - Creative and outside-the-box thinker
- Proficiency working with technical language and reports
- Enjoys working with and engaging with all types of people and personalities
- Interest in usability and accessibility related to communications
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite, WordPress, and other related communication software
- Additional communication skills, including web skills, graphic design, photography, etc., are pluses
