    Summary

    ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
    The Information Technology Department supports the organization’s technology needs and provides leadership for future solutions. Deschutes County IT manages systems and infrastructure, and provides stable, secure, and reliable technical support services to County staff and clients. The department includes 22 employees and partners with other technical staff throughout the County. The department is dedicated to enhancing security, efficiency, and productivity and provides everything from phone support to application integration.

    ABOUT THE JOB:

    The role offers the opportunity to provide essential support and administration of the Microsoft 365 cloud infrastructure, focusing on driving collaboration and integration efforts within Deschutes County, Oregon. Responsibilities involve assisting in deploying new features and ensuring both system performance and security. Keeping informed about the latest updates and best practices related to Microsoft 365 is crucial. This role joins a collaborative and driven team aimed at improving the County's technology services. This position requires occasional after-hours work for system maintenance and emergency response.

    Typical work hours are from 8 am to 5 pm with some flexibility. You will be joining a collaborative, fun, and driven team that aims to improve technology services to our County.

    This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid of in-office/remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Microsoft Administration: Provide support, assistance, and monitoring of the Microsoft 365 services and hybrid cloud/premise infrastructure, like Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams, ensuring optimal performance and compliance. Assist in deployment of Microsoft 365 features.
    • Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to end-users collaborating with IT and business teams to integrate Microsoft 365 solutions with other enterprise systems, ensuring seamless operation and enhancing productivity across the organization.
    • Documentation and Compliance : Assist in developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for Microsoft 365 administration processes and procedures. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with data governance and retention policies, which supports optimal system performance and security standards.

    What You Will Bring:
    Knowledge of or experience with:
    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products and services within a hybrid on-premises/cloud environment.
    • Basic understanding of PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.
    • A foundational understanding of networking concepts and protocols that are necessary for troubleshooting and ensuring smooth operation of cloud services.
    • Knowledge of data governance and retention policies to assure compliance and proper lifecycle management of information within the Microsoft 365 platform.
    Skill in:
    • Providing technical support for Microsoft 365 services, including troubleshooting and resolving basic technical issues efficiently.
    • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that information is comprehensible across different departmental teams.
    • Managing multiple tasks and priorities, allowing for effective time management and delivery of support services within tight deadlines.

    Compensation

    $6,304.35 to $8,448.45 for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union represented position is available immediately.

    BENEFITS:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associates degree in IT, cloud computing, or related field;
    • AND two (2) years of experience in supporting a cloud environment;
    • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • ITIL 4.0 Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL 4.0 principles and practices, indicating an understanding of modern IT service management frameworks to enhance service delivery and support processes.
    • Microsoft 365 certification: Possession of or the ability to obtain specific technical training and certifications related to Microsoft 365 and cloud computing would be beneficial.


    Necessary Special Requirements

    The employment offer will be contingent upon pre-employment screening for criminal history and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). These screenings must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
