    The expected pay range is between $18.25 and $19.90 per hour dependent on qualifications. This position is part-time working 29 hours per week.

    The Stagecoach Operations and Agriculture Assistant works closely with the Stagecoach Operations and Agricultural Supervisor to ensure the smooth functioning of daily operations, maintenance of equipment, and care of agricultural assets. The Assistant also drives teams of horses to provide daily rides and perform farmwork. This position handles the daily care of horses, sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens, as well as develops agricultural programming.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provides the daily care for the site draft horses, including feeding, mucking, basic health care, and training.
    • Provides daily care for site livestock, including sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, and cattle.
    • Uses draft animals to farm using 1860s methods.
    • Supervises and trains coworkers, including both youth and adult volunteers.
    • Plans and implements agricultural education programs for a variety of audiences.
    • Safely drives horse drawn stagecoaches to provide rides for school groups, events, and daily visitors.


    Qualifications

    Experience: Experience handling horses and driving horses is required. Experience handling and caring for small livestock is preferred. Experience with groups of children in an educational, museum, or tour setting preferred.

    Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Licenses & Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.

    Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language required. Additional proficiency with Spanish and American Sign Language preferred.

    Environmental or Physical Demands: Works outside in rain, heat, cold and snow. This position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, walk on uneven surfaces, and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions.
