Job Description:MAIL SERVICES CLERKPurpose:Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of special and routine mail delivery services.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Sorts, picks up, and distributes inter-office and U.S. mail to City of Austin departments and U.S. post office.
- Processes outgoing U.S. mail including registered, insured, express, and international mail with proper postage.
- Verifies that items are addressed correctly and are in suitable condition for processing. Uses locator services for unidentifiable mail.
- Lifts and unloads containers of mail or parcels.
- Initiates and finalizes postage meter processes, weighs packages or letters to determine postage needed.
- Operates and maintains postage equipment.
- Completes and submits journal vouchers for allocating charges.
- Maintains files and records; data/information for reports, and cost estimates on appropriate forms/logs, etc.
- Audits accounting data and postage charge reporting. Records data on appropriate logs or forms.
