Job/Department Summary: Working independently, under general direction, the Study Abroad and Exchange Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of day-to-day operational matters for Study Abroad and Exchange (SAE) Programs within International Education & Global Engagement (IEGE). Incumbent performs highly complex professional Student Services work, reviewing the most difficult individual, group or organizational problems. Incumbent utilizes a combination of high-level analytical and interpersonal skills in working on complex program-wide organizational matters from the investigation and analysis stage through the solution and implementation stage. Incumbent provides consultative services to campus administration and faculty, acting as a spokesperson regarding these programs, coordinates study abroad, international exchange and National Student Exchange (NSE) program activities and leads a team of two SSP staff, student employees and interns, to facilitate administration of the Study Abroad and Exchange Programs for Chico State.
Required Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related.
ANDPossession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
* A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
**A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a job-related field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional, personal or career counseling.
Preferences: Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- Personal experience studying or living overseas.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a study abroad or international education office.
- Experience using a variety of data management systems, CRM and social media applications (i.e. PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Terra Dotta, etc.).
- Effective oral and written communication in two or more languages.
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm
CSU Classification Salary Range: $75,840 - $108,168 per year.

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid passport for travel overseas, and complete the mandated physical exams and protocols, such as vaccinations, to obtain a VISA for each assigned destination.
Attend and assist with activities outside normal business hours such as evenings and weekends.
Travel overnight, on weekends and evenings, locally and internationally, when applicable and when funding allows.
