    Job Description:

    Purpose:

    Under general supervision, responsible for evaluating products, programs and services for addition to the Austin Energy product lines and for developing new products and services.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
    • Lead and maintain accountability for cross-functional teams involved in research and development of new products and target market plans.
    • Manage products, programs or services as assigned. Monitor and analyze product, program and /or services.
    • Conduct and manage market research projects for the evaluation and/or development of new products and market segments.
    • Coordinate and/or lead launch activities for new market offerings Identify potentially beneficial product and services ideas for Austin Energy to explore for commercialization.
    • Make recommendations to executive staff and business unit managers regarding product lines and services within Austin Energy.
    • Develop, analyze and recommend financial analysis and forecasting for new products.
    • Participate in the development of initial marketing plans.
    • Provide customer focus and the development of market driven products and services within Austin Energy.


    Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:

    • May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
    • Knowledge of market and product evaluation techniques, including customer demand analysis and profitability analysis.
    • Knowledge of market segmentation techniques and principles.
    • Skill in oral and written communication including presentation
    • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
    • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
    • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
    • Skill in planning and organizing.
    • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.

    • Ability to use various computer software applications.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Business, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Communication, plus three (3) years of Experience in a field related to the job
    • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years


    Licenses and Certifications Required:

    None.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Subject matter expertise in best practices, customer adoption, and industry trends of electric vehicles.
    • Experience with utility electric vehicle programs to include customer EV adoption.
    • Experience in outreach and education related to electric vehicles.
    • Experience in customer support or customer service, with excellent skills in communicating both orally and in writing.
    • Experience with ChargePoint software platform for management of electric vehicle charging stations.
    • Experience delivering complex and detailed information to leadership, organizations, and/or citizens.


    Notes to Candidate:

    This position monitors day-to-day operations, reports on performance, and recommends actionable improvements when necessary at Austin Energy for the Electric Vehicles & Emerging Technologies team to include electric vehicle (EV) charging programs with a focus on operational excellence to enhance the customer experience. The Product Development Coordinator position will be responsible for program operations to support Austin Energy's EV charging programs.

    The role will include some or all of the following:
    • Maintenance and network health of EV Charging Stations
    • Customer support
    • Vendor and contract management
    • Ongoing reporting, monitoring, and enhancement of programs
    • Outreach activities
    • Rebate Processing


    This position will require some travel and evening and weekend work on occasion to support outreach events.

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.

    Work Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (hybrid)

    Salary Range: $71,630 (low) to $90,980 (mid)

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government. Austin has a 10-1 council system with an at-large Mayor and Council Members that represent ten districts.
