The PositionNapa County is currently recruiting to fill one Medical Secretary vacancy within the Public Health Services Division (PHS) of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA).
The Medical Secretary often serves as the first point of contact for patients with disabilities and their families receiving services through the Medical Therapy Program (MTP). This role is essential in ensuring a welcoming, accessible, and supportive physical and occupational clinical therapy environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Answering and making phone calls
- Scheduling clinics and appointments
- Managing clinic reception and patient check-in
- Providing Spanish translation and interpretation services
- Managing and organizing patient documentation and clinic records
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:- Experience in clerical support within a clinic or other client facing service environment
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Skill in managing and organizing documentation to ensure accurate, timely, and confidential recordkeeping
- Strong communication skills that foster collaboration with patients, families, and staff
- Ability to productively work through conflict while maintaining relationships
- Flexibility and adaptability in handling varied work assignments
- Strong commitment and demonstrated history of positive teamwork and collaboration with colleagues
There is currently one regular full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies up to one year. Bilingual (Spanish) skills are required for this position.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
Experience:
Three years of significant, directly-related and progressive clerical and secretarial experience, including one year medical clerical and secretarial experience.
Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by specialized medical clerical training.
License or Certificate:* Certain positions assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.
*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position. Loss of the required State licensure may result in termination or reassignment.
