Why you’ll love this position:We are seeking an entry-level database administrator to support both Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) environments. This role focuses on the operational and administrative aspects of these platforms, including database maintenance, system monitoring, performance tuning, and SSRS configuration and deployment support. While the primary focus is on SQL Server technologies, the role may also involve exposure to other database platforms as business needs evolve. This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the State Data Center (SDC).

- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server instances.
- Monitor SQL Server and SSRS environments for performance, availability, and reliability.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and index maintenance.
- Apply patches and updates to SQL Server and SSRS components.
- Support the configuration and administration of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including managing report server settings and security.
- Monitor SSRS logs and performance metrics to identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for database and reporting service issues.
- Collaborate with senior administrators and developers to support database and reporting infrastructure projects.
- Learn and apply best practices for data security, compliance, and disaster recovery.
- Support migration and upgrade efforts for SQL Server and SSRS environments.
- Respond to service requests and tickets related to database and reporting system support.
- Knowledge of database management tools, reporting systems, data structures/design, and query languages.
- Ability to learn and apply technical concepts related to database and reporting systems.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and direction effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving data-related issues.
