  • Job Description

    BASIC FUNCTION :
    • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Ethnic Studies courses up to 10 hours/week
    • Organize and teach all levels of Ethnic Studies classes
    • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning;
    • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance
    • learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
    • Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester;
    • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired
    Essential Duties Summary REQUIRED DUTIES :
    Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Required Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS :
    The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications at least one of the disciplines below. Please review the Minimum Qualifications Handbook to view the required qualifications to teach a specific discipline.

    • African American Studies: Master’s degree in African-American/Black/Africana
      Studies OR Bachelor’s degree in African-American/Black/Africana Studies AND Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies
    • Asian American Studies: Master’s degree in Asian American Studies OR Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies AND Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies
    • Chicano Studies: Master’s degree in Chicano Studies OR Ethnic Studies
    • Ethnic Studies: Master’s in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native, American Studies, or American Indian Studies OR Master’s in Ethnic Studies
    • Native American/American Indian Studies: Master’s degree in Native American/American Indian Studies, OR Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies AND Bachelor’s degree in Native American /American Indian Studies
    • OR The equivalent
    • EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT : All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District ( YCCD ) by the application filing date.     • Possess a California Community life credential in the subject matter area
    Desired/Preferred Qualifications EXPERIENCE :
    Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Ethnic Studies to community college students. Physical Demands Range/Step Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience). Salary Range Step 1: $1,377.25 - Step 7: $2,126.79 per unit. Benefits Information PART - TIME (less than .60 FTE ): Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
