    There is currently 1 one opening for Public Affairs Representative II located at Headquarters (Adjacent to Union Station).

    This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List for the following location:

    1. Headquarters (Adjacent to Union Station)

    Note: The current position being filled is focused on social media, however the eligibility list is being generated for opportunities that may include outreach.

    This recruitment will be used to build an Eligibility List. This list will be valid for 6 months from the date a candidate accepts the position.

    As a Public Affairs Representative II, you will support Metropolitan’s integrated communications and outreach program through the development of strategic and engaging content across social media, advertising, and web platforms. This position plays a key role in creating and curating digital materials that promote awareness and understanding of Metropolitan’s mission, programs, and water management initiatives in Southern California’s diverse communities.

    What You’ll Do

    • Assist in creating, curating, planning and producing multimedia content for use in social media, advertising and on Metropolitan websites.
    • Ensure all digital content complies with branding guidelines, accessibility standards, and public agency requirements.
    • Utilize creativity and attention to detail skills to present information and plan content strategies.
    • Turn complex technical topics into clear, compelling public messages.
    • Track content performance and analytics to support continuous improvement.
    • Coordinate with member agencies and partner organizations to align messaging.
    • Contribute to campaign development and creative direction as needed.
    • Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, photographers, and subject matter experts to produce written, visual, and multimedia content.
    • Track emerging digital trends and recommend new tools or approaches to improve engagement with diverse audiences.

    Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday with every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, and every other Friday 8 hours per day.

    Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

    EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years relevant experience of which two years of experience must have been at the Public Affairs Representative I level; or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years relevant experience of which two years of experience must have been at the Public Affairs Representative I level.

    Relevant Experience is defined as: experience with creating and publishing original content across multiple social media platforms including planning and executing social media content from concept to publication and utilizing analytics to evaluate performance.

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

    Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

    License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent that allows you to drive during your employment is required at time of application.

Qualified dependents can be added for a flat monthly fee.
