Job Description
Overview
The Asset Management Department Director is responsible for the operation, maintenance and management of City buildings, vehicles, and equipment. Asset Management is comprised of two business divisions: Facilities Maintenance (Facilities) and Fleet Maintenance (Fleet). The Facilities division provides comprehensive oversight of facility operations and maintenance, and facility Capital Improvement Program (CIP) planning. The Fleet division manages, maintains, and handles the acquisition and disposition of City vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities
• Provide management of staff regarding planning, organizing, directing, budgeting and managing of Department operations
• Responsible for implementing departmental goals, objectives, and policies in accordance with City policy
• Oversees the building maintenance operations to include construction projects, renovations of spaces, preventive maintenance, building and grounds maintenance, interpreting building codes, reviewing building plans, and inspecting all types and phases of building construction and maintenance
• Oversees the development and prioritization of capital improvement plan (CIP)
• Oversees management of self-performed and contracted projects
• Oversees vehicle and equipment acquisition and disposition
• Maintains citywide fleet operational readiness by performing regularly scheduled maintenance, performing repairs as needed, and maintaining a parts inventory
• Oversees the development and utilization of a departmental budget by planning, interpreting budget guidelines, directing the preparation of revenue projections, utilizing statistical data and other fiscal information as required
• Ensure customer needs are satisfied by maintaining close watch on facilities and vehicle maintenance production, overseeing execution of building maintenance requirements, and maintaining close relationship with customer department heads and other key personnel
• Prepares city council agenda items, executive memos and presentations, and other deliverables for management review and/or City Council approval
• Prepares and presents complex issues to internal and external customers
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Exempt - Full-Time
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
• Ten (10) years of related experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Relocation Package
The City offers an excellent relocation assistance package that includes up to $10,000 for the following housing and moving expenses:
Temporary housing assistance
• Two (2) visits to the City which may include two (2) round trip flights or mileage (including hotel, car rental, etc) for the purpose of obtaining temporary or permanent living arrangements.
• Reimbursement for moving company expenses

Basis of Rating
Applications will be reviewed as they are received. A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information and the city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
