    Position Description

    Tacoma Power's Power Management team is looking to hire an eMobility Intern! The eMobility team is responsible for electric vehicle (EV) related efforts, including developing and implementing customer EV charging programs, citywide participation in the WA Clean Fuels Program, and utility ownership of a small fleet of public EV charging stations in Tacoma.

    This position will be assigned a variety of tasks and projects to help the team engage with internal workgroups, industry partners, and customers. Assignments may include, assisting with establishing tools to help engage with workgroups across Tacoma Public Utilities (SharePoint content, Tableau dashboards, and project update reports), updating processes to meet tracking and reporting guidelines for participation in the WA Clean Fuels program, conducting EV charging station audits, and other tasks related to transportation electrification programs.

    All members of the eMobility team work a hybrid schedule and are required in office at least 3 days per week.

    The hours for this position will be 40 hours per week. The term of this position is expected to be one year.

    Responsibilities Include:
    • Update or develop tracking systems and data collection mechanisms, including consolidating data from multiple streams into a single location
    • Build dashboards to visualize EV adoption trends, manage SharePoint sites for document sharing and collaboration, and draft progress reports
    • Conduct physical site audits of EV charging installations confirming compliance with state regulations
    • Complete assigned tasks related to the development and implementation of new EV programs
    • Research new and emerging EV and flex load management technologies and program opportunities, drafting summary reports with recommendations
    • Seek and apply for grant opportunities to support EV charging projects


    Qualifications

    Minimum Education*
    High School Diploma or GED

    Minimum Experience*
    1 year of post-high school training

    *Relevant education and experience may substitute for one another on a year-for-year basis

    Other Employment Information

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
