    Overview

    The Recreation Sr. Group Leader - Summer implements educational/recreational programs to ensure participants have a variety of learning resources to provide a safe environment, coordinate special events, and collect class fees while maintaining standards of professionalism to the external/internal customers. This position must be prepared to deal effectively with emergency and stressful situations at any time.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervises of up to 3 staff members and guides staff to improve the site overall

    • Manages the supervision of children 6 - 16 years of age and addresses any concerns/needs expressed by the children

    • Redirects children to limit any possible disciplinary issues

    • Ensures kids are signed in upon entering recreation site

    • Receives and issues receipts for recreation classes, prepares revenue reports and deposits monies at the close of the day as needed

    • Always ensures information on participant registration forms are up to date

    • Prepares and assists with daily reposts such as incident reports and discipline referrals

    • Plans and executes weekly/monthly special events for the center

    • Works with local non-profit agencies to provide special programs and activities for children

    • Instructs and leads children in various recreational games and activities

    • Ensures that there is constant communication with custodial and administrative staff

    • Communicates daily with parents/guardians while providing excellent customer service

    • Conducts monthly fire and service weather drills, playground checks, smoke detectors and fire extinguisher checks

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Non-Exempt - Part-Time - Temp - 5 hours per week

    • Must be available to work additional hours as needed

    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma/GED

    • Six (6) months to one (1) year experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring

    • CPR/First Aid Certified

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
