    Valley Metro is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to assist in executing Valley Metro's mission to connect communities and enhance lives while planning, designing, building, and operating a multimodal transportation system.  This is an opportunity to join one of the nation's largest and most innovative transit system.

  • Job Description

    The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for Valley Metro's multimodal transit system, including operations, maintenance, service planning and customer experience.  The COO ensures that staff and contracted partners deliver safe, reliable and efficient service across bus, light rail, streetcar, paratransit and other mobility solutions that advances Valley Metro's mission of Connecting Communities and Enhancing Lives.  This role fosters strong collaboration with 19 member cities, regional partners and service providers to achieve seamless operations, unified regional mobility and high-quality customer experience. 

  • Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Transportation, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in transit system management including operations, maintenance, service planning and customer experience of which seven (7) years were in executive or senior leadership roles in a complex, multimodal environment.
    • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
