    Role

    Learn and Earn Program Coordinator

    Yavapai County Juvenile Probation is seeking motivated and organized individuals to serve as a Program Coordinator to oversee and support the Learn and Earn summer program. This program will take place at our Prescott and Cottonwood locations.

    This temporary position plays a key role in coordinating daily program activities, supporting participating youth, and ensuring a structured, positive, and engaging learning environment.

    The Learn and Earn Program runs from May through mid-July, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day.

    The ideal candidate will be at least 21 years of age, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have prior experience working with youth. Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and the ability to serve as a positive role model while maintaining appropriate structure and accountability within the program.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures of the Learn and Earn Program.
    • Oversees and has full responsibility for teens enrolled in the education and employment Learn and Earn Program.
    • Oversees learning and internship opportunities for teens enrolled in the Learn and Earn Program.
    • Drives 12-passenger van for teens to and from designated internship locations.
    • Coordinates and works with community representatives and leaders.
    • Establishes record keeping for teen activities.
    • Maintains and submits timesheets for teens enrolled in Learn and Earn Program.
    • Provides work direction to specific staff involved in the Learn and Earn Program.
    • Writes reports, implements curriculum, and assists in classroom management and instruction.
    • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders regarding youth activities.
    • Assists with planning and organizing the program’s parent orientation and graduation ceremony.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:
    A minimum of three (3) year experience working with youth.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and pass a Motor Vehicle Records Check (MVR).
    Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation, fingerprinting, and polygraph test.
    Must be 21 years of age.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:
    •Principles and methods working with teens.
    •Teaching in a classroom setting.
    •Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    •Clerical office practices and procedures.
    •Current Microsoft Office software.

    Skill in:
    •Serving as a positive role model for juveniles in the community, school, and home settings.
    •Communicating effectively verbally, in writing, in person and by telephone with public, youth, and employees.
    •Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, youth, other agencies, and the public.
    •Organization and adherence to detail.

    Ability to:
    •Perform with regular attendance and demonstrate reliability.
    •Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
    •Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    •Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    •Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion.
    •Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, youth, parents, and the public.
    •Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office and field environment in all weather conditions and may include exposure to loud noise, blood borne pathogens, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals. This is a highly public position where contact with public may be in challenging situations.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to hike, walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically. Ability to lift, up to 30 pounds.
