    The Job

    The Sheriff's Department is recruiting for Sheriff's Licensed Clinical Therapists I/ II, and Pre-Li censed Clinical Therapists*, who will provide a variety of professional mental health care and services in the Sheriff's departments within the adult correctional facilities. These positions will provide individual and group psychotherapy, evaluations and investigations, and professional counseling in accordance with applicable professional licensing laws in a law enforcement setting.

    The resulting eligible list may be used to fill immediate and future vacancies throughout the Department as they occur .

    *Official job titles: Licensed Clinical Therapist I, Licensed Clinical Therapist II, and Pre-Licensed Clinical Therapist.

    Pre-Licensed Clinical Therapist

    Range 55T: $71,510.40 - $93,558.40

    Licensed Clinical Therapist

    Range 58: $76,918.40 - $108,451.20

    Licensed Clinical Therapist II

    Range 60: $80,683.20 - $114,046.40

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT


    Shift: Must be available to work various 8-12 hour shifts on a 24 hour basis, which include day, night, swing, rotating, holidays and weekends.

    Background: Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony and must successfully pass an extensive background investigation which includes a fingerprint check and polygraph.

    Physical Demands: Incumbents will be required to immediately respond to emergency situations while on duty which may involve hostile and volatile wards and inmates. Requires the following physical demands: balancing, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, standing, stooping, turning, twisting and walking long distances both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions; hand and finger dexterity in both hands; ability to manipulate heavy duty security locks and doors; reaching or working above and below shoulder level; normal vision, including color discrimination; normal hearing; and carrying up to 10 pounds.

    Working Conditions: Working conditions involve exposure to hazardous and infectious materials and communicable diseases.

    Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

    Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

    Registration/License: Pre-licensed Clinical Therapists must have a registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for the commencement of employment.
    Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors: Applicants with PCC licensure must provide proof of the required coursework or named specialty and a copy of supervision agreement/Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) hours verification form (as described in the minimum requirements section) in order for contingent offers to be made.
    Pre-licensed Clinical Therapists must become licensed by the BBS within six (6) years of the original registration or may be terminated. Upon obtaining license, employees may be promoted to Clinical Therapist I.

    Minimum Requirements

    Sheriff's Pre-Licensed Clinical Therapist
    Must possess an associate registration number and MUST BE on the first registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) (i.e., applicants who are within six years of initial registration with the BBS.)

    Sheriff's Licensed Clinical Therapist

    Must be licensed in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Applicants must indicate license number and expiration date on the Supplemental Questionnaire. A copy of license is required upon appointment.

    Sheriff's Licensed Clinical Therapist II

    License: Must be licensed in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). A copy of license is required upon appointment.

    -AND-

    Experience: Two (2) years, within the last five (5) years, of direct service post-license experience as a licensed therapist in a behavioral health, social service, institutional, or correctional setting.

    Note: Registration and/or Licenses must be active, unrestricted and in good standing.
