DescriptionThe City of Santa Ana is looking for currently enrolled law school students with a proven record of success in their studies and as individuals to join the City Attorney’s Office for the Summer of 2026. City Attorney’s Office is seeking such law students to share their special talents and skills for this position with our office. Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To IF ASSIGNED TO THE CITY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE, DUTIES MAY ALSO INCLUDE: - Legal Research
- Legal Writing
- Summation of case files/depositions
- Deposition preparation
- Preparation of discovery
- Assistance at hearings/court appearances
- Varied legal tasks, as needed
Minimum Qualifications The City of Santa Ana accepts volunteers ages 18 years and older who are currently enrolled in law school.
Volunteers ages 18 and older will receive instructions on how to complete the online background check after an initial review of their application.
Selection Process All applicants are required to complete and submit a City application form and answer the supplemental questionnaire online. Resumes or faxed copies will not be accepted in lieu of an original application.

Part-Time employees accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked up to a maximum accrual of 6 days or 48 hours. Employees are eligible to use 3 days or 24 hours of accrued paid sick leave in a 12-month period.
