GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Web Team Lead, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) web design and development work, including development, coding, code validation, accessibility remediation and planning in order to produce accessible web projects. Completes all development jobs and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Functions as part of the web team group to ensure all specialized areas of web site administration are covered at all times for agency's web site(s). Monitors web sites to maintain State and federal web site standards compliance. Works closely with Creative and Interactive Director, Web Manager, technical web development staff and internal TPWD customers to ensure maximum user experience and customer satisfaction. Works under limited supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Sixty semester credit hours from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Web Design, Web Development, Web Accessibility, Programming, Emerging Media, Graphic Design, Computer or related field.
Experience: Five years of experience in web or software development.
One year of experience web development with Python.
NOTE: Experience may have occurred concurrently.
Licensure: Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS Education: One additional year web development or web design work may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of 60 semester hours
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree with major coursework in Web Design, Web Development, Programming, Emerging Media, Graphic Design, Computer or related field.
Experience: Experience developing in Javascript.
Experience developing in PHP.
Experience designing and using REST APIs.
Experience with SQL database.
Experience with Django, Plone, Zope, or other python web frameworks.
Experience using the Linux command line for web development.
Experience using translation frameworks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python for creation of web pages/web sites, with ability to code for web browsers across multiple platforms and versions;
Knowledge of web standards and accessibility requirements with ability to use validation tools and techniques
Skill in creating/designing information architecture for websites;
Skill in technology and terminology of all types of media, including web design, as well as design-related hardware and software operation;
Skill in developing Python scripts;
Skill in interpreting/writing unix commands;
Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
Skill in effective verbal and written communication;
Skill in researching and compiling information;
Ability to design, test, validate, troubleshoot, schedule and post web pages;

WORKING CONDITIONS Required to work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday;
May be required to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and hours other than regularly scheduled with supervisor approval.
May be required to operate a state vehicle.
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
