THE POSITIONFIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC)The Culver City Fire Department is now offering a one-time sign-on bonus: Incentive Amount of $3,000
$1,000 paid within two pay periods after employment commences.

*PLEASE NOTE: INCENTIVES PAYMENTS WILL ONLY BE ISSUED AFTER THE SPECIFIED MILESTONES ARE VERIFIED.This position is responsible for firefighting, life saving, and rescue services, fire inspection and prevention, and other fire services under the direction of a Fire Captain or Fire Marshal, depending upon assignment. The firefighter position is assigned to a fire response company as a Firefighter, Firefighter / Paramedic, or to the Fire Prevention Division to function as a Fire Inspector.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Graduation from high school or equivalent and experience in a work environment involving equipment usage, public contact, and physical activity. Candidates are required to meet the standards set forth in the Fire Department's Tattoo Policy (Rules and Regulations 205.28). - Candidates will be required to attend a Motion Picture/Television - Fire Safety Officer training course within the first twelve (12) months of employment. The twelve (12) month period may be extended at the discretion of the Fire Chief based on course availability.
- Current State of California Paramedic License or proof of current registration as a paramedic with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
- LA County paramedic accreditation must be obtained by completion of the probationary period.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURESApplicants must receive a passing score on all of the following examination components in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Applicants must take the written examination through National Testing Network (NTN) or submit a recent test score that was within the last 90 days.
Scores will be accepted by invitation only. - Written Test (weighted at 25%): To assess reading comprehension, reasoning and decision-making skills, mathematical ability, and mechanical aptitude. The City of Culver City only accepts scores from the National Testing Network. Scores will be accepted by invitation only.
- Appraisal Interview (weighted at 75%): To evaluate the candidate's preparation, situational judgment, knowledge, communication skills, and personal qualities. Tentatively scheduled for the week of May 11, 2026.
