    Description:

    The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is responsible for assisting customers by providing basic and routine information and service in support of the Fairgrounds and CSU Extension offices. The ideal candidate performs a variety of general office support and receptionist duties including answering telephones, providing information, documenting calls, performing data entry, receiving inquiries and responding, assisting internal and external contacts, and resolving problems or referring inquiries to the appropriate personnel, taking payments, and checking-in plant and insect samples. The CSR will collaborate with the Fairgrounds Event Coordinator to ensure all event client needs are met including assisting with generating and processing client documentation. The successful candidate is an excellent communicator and follows established procedures to provide answers and/or handle customer needs, issues, and concerns as appropriate; establishes and maintains records; and composes and sends correspondence.     SCHEDULE:

    This position operates on site offering exceptional customer service, assisting with registration,taking samples, and supporting the office needs. Due to the nature of this position, reliable in-office work is required Tuesday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM, when the office is open. The remainder of weekly work hours can be flexible to meet the needs of the employee and position: either allowing for a 4-day workweek, or a 5-day workweek with up to 4 hours of remote work on Mondays.

    COMPENSATION:

    Hiring Range: $20.00 - $23.00 USD Hourly

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    • Assists customers by phone, e-mail and in person. Provides information based on knowledge of division programs, activities, and policies. Determines urgency, priority, and action necessary to serve customer. Routes messages and referrals to other division personnel. Follows-up with customer until matter is resolved or handed off to someone else.
    • Processes paperwork, assuming responsibility for correctness of spelling, punctuation, grammar, format, and accuracy of information. Establishes and maintains a variety of tangible files, filing and retrieving information as requested or otherwise necessary. Provides general administrative and clerical support for program staff.
    • Utilizes computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, database, and file maintenance programs to enter, store and retrieve information.
    • Receives and expedites deliveries of supplies, sorts and opens incoming mail, routes and distributes as appropriate. Restocks supplies as needed.
    • Performs opening and closing procedures to prepare for customers and ensure work area is secured and organized at close of business.
    • Provides prompt and courteous service by phone, e-mail, and in person to all callers, visitors, guests, clients, and staff. Greets everyone immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Provides information based on knowledge of division programs, activities, and policies. Determines urgency, priority, and action necessary to serve customer. Routes messages and referrals to other division personnel. Follows up with customer until matter is resolved or handed off to someone else.
    • Collaborate with the Fairgrounds Event Coordinator to ensure all event client needs are met including assisting with generating and processing client documentation.
    • Attends regular meetings with both CSU and Fairgrounds teams for up-to-date information and knowledge.
    • Assist with purchasing and/or finance documentation, such as taking payments and updating budget spreadsheets.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School diploma or equivalent certificate.
    • 1 year of work-related experience in administrative or customer-facing role.
    • Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
