We are the largest Department in the County, with over 80 staff. Our agency works with Colusa County residents in administering social services programs, including Cal Works, Cal-Fresh, Medi-Cal, In-home Supportive Services (IHSS), Adult and Children’s Services, Public Health, and Housing. Selection Procedure: The following is a tentative schedule of events that will occur as part of the selection process:

- Bilingual Exams. This position requires the ability to speak, read, and write Spanish in addition to English. Applicants will be required to pass a proficiency exam.

What's this Job All About? The Public Health Assistant supports county health department programs by assisting with community outreach, data collection, client services, and administrative tasks. This role helps implement public health initiatives such as immunizations, disease prevention, maternal and child health services, and emergency preparedness activities. Responsibilities include collecting and entering health data, maintaining confidential records, assisting with case investigations and follow-up, supporting vaccination events, responding to public inquiries, and coordinating with community partners.

QualificationsAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Equivalent to three years of public health, medical office, or related experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.
Supplemental InformationThe salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
