The Chief Executive Office is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Special Services Assistant IV vacancies related to the DOJ Consent Decree.
Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.
During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Special Services Assistant IV.Essential Job Functions- Under the direction of the DOJ Compliance Officer, assist in leading policy development, process and implementation planning, and operational recommendations.
- Provide expert analysis and recommendations on issues related to systems of incarceration, jail depopulation, and pre-arraignment release programming.
- Analyze and interpret data related to jail conditions to inform decision-making and operational changes required to achieve and maintain compliance with U.S. DOJ Settlement and Rutherford v. Luna provisions.
- Represent Management in establishing and maintaining administrative and operational coordination between County departments, and with State, federal, and other governmental entities or stakeholders.
- Prepare reports, studies, and correspondence related to the U.S. DOJ Settlement and Rutherford v. Luna.
- Review, analyze, and/or make recommendations on staffing, resource, revenue and budget proposals from County departments to advance compliance with U.S. DOJ, Rutherford, and Rosas case requirements.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of verbal and written communication and reporting related to U.S. DOJ, Rutherford, and Rosas compliance.
RequirementsSELECTION REQUIREMENTS:TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Three years' experience in an administrative*, advisory**, or supervisory*** staff capacity dealing with fiscal, budgetary, legislative, governmental, or similar complex issues, at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Principal Analyst, CEO****.
Special Requirement Information * Administrative capacity is defined as performing work in an administrative services branch of an organizational unit and having independent responsibility for the development of procedures and participation in policy formulation.
** Advisory capacity is defined as being an expert in a specialized field and advising senior management on operational efficiencies, while having the responsibility for the development of policies and procedures.
***Supervisory capacity is defined as having the authority and responsibility to manage and lead others towards achieving organizational objectives.
****In the County of Los Angeles, experience at the level of Principal Analyst, CEO is gained through assisting the CEO to manage the County's administrative and financial affairs, under the general direction of a CEO manager.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
