    Position Description
    Employees in this classification travel as required providing a wide variety of patient care activities in a correctional facility. They function within their legal scope of practice and by the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Work is performed under the direction of a registered nurse as part of a total correctional managed health care team in providing safe and competent care to patients

    Major/Essential Functions
    • Travel and Site Support: Provides on-site support across assigned correctional facilities, maintaining professionalism, preparedness, and adaptability in varying operational environments. Represents the organization positively at all locations while supporting consistent, high-quality clinical operations through reliable attendance and engagement.
    • Clinical Operations: Delivers safe, timely, and patient-centered nursing care within correctional healthcare settings, including medication administration, treatment delivery, patient assessments, and sick call services.
    • Documentation and Compliance: Ensures accurate and timely clinical documentation within the electronic health record while upholding organizational, regulatory, and correctional healthcare standards.
    • Virtual Nursing and Telehealth Support: Provides virtual nursing services, including patient triage, follow-up care, education, and care coordination in accordance with established protocols.
    • Care Coordination and Team Collaboration: Collaborates effectively with providers, nursing staff, custody personnel, and administrative teams to support seamless continuity of care within correctional healthcare settings. Communicates patient needs and follow-up requirements clearly and promptly.
    • Administrative Support and Clinical Development: Supports the Nurse Educator and Associate Director with clinically related administrative and developmental tasks.


    Required Qualifications
    Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer the license to Texas by start date, and 5 years of experience as a licensed vocational nurse.
