    We’re looking for an exceptional, community-minded executive who is:

    • Experienced in managing a similarly sized city
    • Skilled in budgeting, infrastructure planning, and long-term capital finance
    • A transparent communicator who builds trust across the organization and community

    Giddings, Texas is a thriving Central Texas community of approximately 5,000 residents known for its small-town values, strong schools, and welcoming spirit. Located at the intersection of U.S. Highways 77 and 290, Giddings sits within the rapidly developing “Texaplex” corridor, providing convenient access to Austin, College Station, Houston, and other major metropolitan areas while maintaining its hometown character.

    The City of Giddings operates under a Home Rule Charter and a Council-Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by the Mayor and five Council Members. The City Manager serves as the chief executive officer and is responsible for implementing Council policy, managing municipal operations, and leading organizational strategy.

    The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success managing a similarly sized city, with strong experience in infrastructure planning, budgeting, and economic development.

    Required qualifications include:

    Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field

    At least five (5) years of progressively responsible local government management experience

    Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)

    Demonstrated experience in budgeting and municipal operations

    Residency within the city limits of Giddings, Texas

    Preferred qualifications include:

    Master’s degree in Public Administration or related field

    Experience managing electric utility operations

    Infrastructure funding and capital improvement planning experience

    Grant research and administration experience

    Economic development leadership experience

    The salary range for this position is $160,000 -- $180,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
