Job SummarySouthern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) are currently seeking Forensic Psychiatrists for Stein Hospital located in Las Vegas, NV. Stein Forensic Hospital is a secure hospital providing inpatient services for adults who are court committed in the course of their criminal proceedings. Stein Hospital also serves as training grounds for psychiatry resident, forensic psychiatry fellows, and advance practice registered nursing students. SNAMHS is a State of Nevada agency whose mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life, by providing inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community.

Inpatient services are provided through our state-of-the-art Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital, which began serving the community on August 28, 2006. Outpatient services are provided through three mental health clinics located throughout the community and two rural locations. We are accredited by the Joint Commission and certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We proudly serve as a major training site for the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine medical students and psychiatric residents of all years of training, Touro University DO students, and APRN students from multiple national programs.Incumbents will be expected to lead the facility treatment teams to develop treatment plans, providepsychiatric assessments, and prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications.
As a member of the treatment team the Senior Psychiatrist is expected to complete the statutorily required assessments of criminal competency for the courts and be available to testify as an expert witness. The position also requires participation in training forensic examiners for the Division of Public and Behavioral Health as required by law.
