    SALARY:

    Air Conditioning Tech I : $29.73 - $36.15 / Hour

    Air Conditioning Tech I : $31.87 - $38.73 / Hour

    OPENING DATE: 3/25/26

    CLOSING DATE: 4/8/26 At 1 PM Pacific Time

    THE POSITION:

    Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled technical work in the maintenance and operation of air conditioning units, boilers, large water chilled systems and circulating systems, involving the maintenance and repair of air conditioning plants, kitchen equipment including boilers, and operation of electrical system and ice making equipment; H.V.A.C. equipment, sheet metal, duct work, and new unit plumbing installation; operation of computer operated controls; operation of light and heavy equipment; performs other work as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applications will be accepted only from those applicants who clearly demonstrate on the COMPLETED application & supplementa l questionnaire that they meet the below requirements:

    Air Conditioning Tech I:

    • Graduation from high school or vocational school or GED equivalent; AND
    • Three (3) years of experience at apprenticeship-skill level in air conditioning and heating plant maintenance and operation; OR
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties
    • Possession of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license
    • must pass a color vision test.


    Air Conditioning Tech II:

    • In addition to the above, you must have four (4) years of experience at apprenticeship-skill level in air conditioning, heating, plant maintenance, operations and general building equipment maintenance including supervisory experience.

    Examination (Weighted: 100%)

    ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted 100%): April 21, 2026 (Tentative) The method of examination may include one or more of the following: written exam; oral exam; evaluation of education, training, experience or other qualifications as shown by the application, or by other information submitted, or by the record; questionnaires submitted to references; or any other appropriate measure of fitness. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.

    NOTE: Admission to the Examination may be limited to those applicants who demonstrate the best combination of qualifications. Applicants possessing the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed admittance to the Examination.
