    Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.

    Department

    The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), and fits within the overall mission of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Head Coach, Women's Basketball (Administrator III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The major responsibilities of the Head Coach include but are not limited to the oversight of all phases of a competitive women’s basketball program; ensuring the program is in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, Big West Conference, and University rules, regulations and policies; recruit student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and academic standards, as well as University requirements; plan and coordinate in-season and out of season practices, including team and individual workout, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division I level; monitor the academics of each of the Women's basketball student athletes. Additionally, they are to effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressed; plan and implement match plans; coordinate strength and conditioning program with the assigned Strength and Conditioning coach; complete all necessary compliance forms as required and/or requested by the Athletics Compliance office in a timely manner; lead and participate in fundraising activities for the Women's basketball program and/or Department of Athletics and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, media, and friends of the university. Supervise and manage the basketball program staff and are to perform computer-related tasks. Other duties as assigned.

    Essential Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Five years of coaching a highly competitive basketball program. Demonstrated successful coaching experience in a highly competitive intercollegiate and/or professional level. Thorough knowledge and experience in managing an athletics program budget and organizing and coordinating an intercollegiate basketball schedule. Strong organizational skills and ability to perform accurate, detailed work under time pressures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with various groups. Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate staff. Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with multiple constituents and build effective working relationships.

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in coaching and recruiting competitively for basketball. Knowledge of State of California, California State University code and regulations, and California State University and NCAA policies and procedures. Knowledge of federal and state labor laws, CSU HR policies, CSU Title IX Executive Orders.

    License/Certifications

    A valid California driver’s license.

    Employees must maintain working knowledge of compliance with relevant NCAA and conference rules, and report any concerns or violations noted.

    This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.

    Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended. Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must also sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct.
