temporary basis. This opportunity allows individuals with commendable service history, adherence to the highest ethical standards, and commitment to public safety to contribute meaningfully to our mission of upholding justice within the County.
The successful applicant will have the chance to maintain a prominent presence at the Judicial Center, 100 Broad Street, Charleston, SC, 29401, ensuring court security across various judicial settings, engaging with the public, crafting detailed reports, addressing callouts, and serving as an official within the Court system.
With an average workweek of 30-35 hours, typically between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00pm, this role offers flexibility while providing a significant impact on the community's safety and well-being. This position requires successfully passing the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy's 10-day Limited Duty Training Program and obtaining firearms and taser certifications within the first year of employment.

- retired sworn law enforcement officer (Class 1 or 3)
- possess a current valid SC driver’s license, or the ability to obtain a SC driver’s license
- Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable).
- Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement).
- No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers.
- No student loans in default status.

- Background investigation including a credit check
- In-person panel interview
