    Compensation and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $10,047 - $10,452 per month (Steps 1-3)

    Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $10,047 - $14,636 per month
    • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

    The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year.     Job Summary

    The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who works as a primary care provider in ambulatory care clinics in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and nursing standards of care assessment of health status, diagnosis, develops/implements plan of care/treatment, and evaluates patient outcomes. They provide general and preventive health care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses/minor injuries, order lab/x-ray tests, and make referrals to health providers in the community and to specialty services within the health center. This position serves the students of California State University, Fresno. This position reports to the Director of Medical Services in the Student Health & Counseling Center.

    Key Qualifications
    • Work independently in assigned areas of practice established by the supervising physician; demonstrate clinical competence in eliciting patient histories, conducting examinations, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, assessing patient needs and making appropriate referrals;
    • Use clinical techniques/examinations, and diagnostic tools;
    • Interpret laboratory and other study results;
    • Keep current with developments in the medical field pertinent to the incumbent's scope of practice;
    • Establish and maintain an effective working relationships with other health center staff;
    • Be sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients

    Education and Experience
    • Nurse Practitioners must possess an academic degree or certificate from an approved college or university based Nurse Practitioner program or possess equivalent training and experience as outlined by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
    • Two or more years of experience as a nurse practitioner.
    • Experience as a nurse practitioner in an ambulatory health care setting

This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
