Definition The City of Newport Beach seeks a motivated individual to join the City Manager's Office. Currently, there is one full-time Information Technology (IT) Analyst vacancy assigned to the Applications team. This position works closely with users to identify business procedures, workflows, and issues, and to propose, design, and implement appropriate application solutions. The role also involves modifying existing systems to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and support new functionality.
The analyst manages and assists with new software implementations and supports the design and development of enterprise database systems that are integral to the organization’s day-to-day operations, while monitoring their performance, integrity, and security. In addition, the position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reports and dashboards based on business requirements.

Retirement: The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement Systems (CalPERS). Experience & Education and License/CertificateA combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Depending on area of assignment, three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in: application development, design & testing, web-based applications and database integration, computer systems analysis, data analysis and reporting;
or hardware and software support, with at least one year of experience in administering Microsoft Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, Security and LAN/WAN software and hardware;
or experience designing, implementing and maintaining GIS databases, surveying principles, cartography and map layer design.
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in management information systems, computer science, or a related field.
License or Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
